A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Collin Tyrrell is a multifaceted bass/tenor trombonist currently based in Southern New England. With years of musical experience under his belt, Collin has appeared in chamber, orchestral, pop, and jazz settings.
Recent appearances include performances with the Boston Civic Orchestra, the Block Island Sound brass quintet, and the New England Repertory Orchestra. He has also performed in various brass quintets, brass trios, the Rise Trombone Quartet, and has held both the principal trombone chair and bass trombone chair in several orchestras and wind ensembles around Southeast New England Including . He has performed with renowned brass musicians such as George Sanders, Jordan Jacobson, Brian Diehl, among others. As a strong advocate for new music, having commissioned several pieces in the past few years, including State of Mind, for Bass Trombone and Electronics By University of Rhode Island Alumna Katherine Loo.
Apart from performing, Collin also maintains a teaching studio of varied low brass musicians, including bass trombone, tenor trombone, euphonium, and tuba.
Collin holds a B.M. In Orchestral Performance from the University of Rhode Island, under the mentorship of Benjamin Griffin, Jordan Jacobson, and Cathryn Cummings, and a Masters of Music in Brass Performance at Boston University under the mentorship of Gabe Rice.
Collin currently performs on an Edwards B502i bass trombone, an Eastman by Shires etb634g tenor trombone, and Doug Elliott mouthpieces.
